Welcome to Week 1 π±
This is a safe, judgment-free space created just for you. Take your time reading through this material. There is no rush, no deadline β only your own pace and your own healing. Every time you show up here, you are doing the work. That matters.
This Week's Focus
Healing begins not with fixing β but with seeing. This week, we simply ask you to name what you're carrying. Many of us have spent years pushing feelings down, staying busy, or putting others first. This session is an invitation to pause and turn your gaze inward with compassion.
You don't have to have the right words. You don't have to feel ready. Showing up is enough.
"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds."
β Psalm 147:3What the Research Tells Us
Studies in holistic mental health consistently show that naming an emotion reduces its intensity by activating the prefrontal cortex β the "thinking brain" β which calms the emotional response. This is called "affect labeling," and it is one of the simplest and most powerful tools in healing.
Simply writing "I feel grief" or "I feel anxious today" creates enough distance between you and the feeling β just enough space to breathe.
Our Holistic Approach
At Food for the Soul, we believe healing touches the whole person β mind, body, and spirit. Each week you will receive:

Intake Exercise β Why Are You Here?
This is your very first step. Before anything else β before your meditation and before meeting your counselor β we invite you to answer one honest question. Take 10β15 minutes. Write freely. Your counselor will read this before your initial 40-minute appointment so she can meet you exactly where you are.
"Describe what brought you here. What are you carrying right now β emotionally, physically, or spiritually β that you are ready to begin laying down? Be as specific or as general as feels right for today."
π§ Step 3 β Your 10-Minute Guided Meditation
Complete your exercise first, then your meditation unlocks automatically
Before meeting your counselor, take 10 minutes to center yourself with this guided meditation β recorded personally by your counselor at Food for the Soul. Find a quiet place, close your eyes, and let yourself breathe.
Complete Your Exercise First
Your guided meditation unlocks after you write and save your intake exercise. This helps your counselor prepare for your appointment and ensures you're ready to receive.
Once you complete your exercise & meditation and your payment is received, Camille will schedule your appointment in the counselor portal. Your Google Meet link, date & time appear here automatically β no email needed. Just click Join Google Meet when it's time.
Need to reach your counselor before your appointment?
If you have questions, concerns, or anything urgent, you can send a message directly through the portal β available 24/7. Your counselor responds within 24β48 hours. For a mental health emergency, please contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988.

- What stood out to you most from this week's session?
- What emotions came up β during the reading, the exercise, or the live session?
- Is there something you want to remember or revisit next week?
- What is one small thing you will do before the next session to care for yourself?
Something come up you want to share?
You don't have to wait for your next appointment. Send your counselor a message anytime through the portal β for encouragement, a question, or if something urgent comes up. For emergencies, always call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline).
